Channing is already a challenge for Kimmel as he doesn’t want to travel. The show we are targeting has Jonny Depp booked which we think is a big idea. We are trying to get agreement on a Skype session with Channing.
I need some yes momentum and don’t need them refusing Kimmel too.
> Depp had a connection to the show don’t we need to be clever about this I don’t we can just say we need a famous person to make fun of.

Did Jeff Blake connect with you on Friday? Dick Cook gave him this project for consideration. Paul Haggis wrote the script with his daughter and is attached to direct. There is a Johnny Depp conversation but no firm attachment. Budget approx $70M. Dick will bring co-financing. Elizabeth mentioned this came in 5 or 6 years ago. I have a few execs reading this weekend. Just wanted to make sure you had it too and knew what it was. I’m going to read now and will let you know.
Hey man are you ok with me passing on Black Mass as a domestic acquisition? Came to me through Zimmer and it’s still Depp and Barry Levinsons been replaced by Scott Cooper, whom I love (loved out of the furnace), but this feels tired and they’d still want 10 to 13 for domestic. It’s Italian mob vs FBI and whitey bulger. Scripts ok but nothing new here.
In just my brief chat with koepp I came away believing if you don’t like the deal we’d make for spidey in cap 3 we can totally plot out a new trilogy of our own with people excited to take it on. Even koepp started to twinkle behind the eyes as he spoke.
And maybe Drew nails it and we build out from his script. Don’t feel backed into a corner because of the past. What’s past is prologue.
But man I want whatever koepp is going to plan for a new film series. He looked like a guy about to rediscover the joys of just writing. Said Depp was late every fucking day on their movie

Negative WOM severely harmed Transcendence’s box office performance, even though it had over 28% total number of screens. DMG brought Johnny Depp to China but it generated over 2.6 million negative posts on the Chinese Twitter #DMGGetOutOfShowbiz#. This was caused by the chaotic media schedule of the Beijing tour in April, when media interviews and fan events were cancelled last minute and without explanation. “This is the biggest joke on April Fool’s Day! We strongly condemn DMG,” among other similar posts. A few positive comments surrounded the fact that the film has been converted to 3D for China’s release.
22 Jump Street
Big fans of the original and our biggest comedy at £10.2m this was one looked forward to with a lot to live up to. So pleased to say it did just that with all the laugh out loud moments of the first and with the same convincing, warm relationship between the two leads. A real strength for this market was the underlying sophistication in the humour – the knowing comedy directed against the genre alongside the straightforward pure physical and spoken gags. Brilliantly irreverent again the lack of the big cameo could have been a shortfall but assume that the two as written are for real and more than make up for the Depp one.
A great date this time and no introduction to the franchise is necessary with the last not only opening big but holding very well indeed. There will be a real anticipation for this second movie.
Starting numbers, with some real upside potential, as follows:
Well where do I start with this? We actually liked it but with a number of reservations. The first half is by far the better of the two with the second becoming uneven and strangely comedic and the finale feeling very rushed. Michael Parks was terrific and some of his speeches genuinely creepy and a real acting masterclass. The premise although outrageous was pretty convincing and surprisingly moving in parts. The problem of course is it does not get to where it wants to be and remains a difficult sell. If he really wanted to see someone look like a walrus he only had to give Haley Joel Osment a few more trips to the diner and it would have saved them all a lot of trouble. Johnny Depp was amusing but overplayed.Whatever is decided there is no way this can get a slot in 2014 and by waiting to 2015 we can at least sit out the US result. At this point we can only really see it as a 100 screen qualifier, which is a bit of a shame. RegardsPeter
